DIRECTOR OF ADULT MINISTRY

The Director of Adult Ministry shall be a well-trained individual committed to Jesus Christ and to ministry with all ages. It is expected that each member of the WCUMC staff will worship regularly and attend to their spiritual growth through participation in regular devotional time and will pray for the overall mission and ministry of the church. This person shall possess the administrative skills necessary to perform his or her duties and carry out details, as well as the interpersonal, relational skills for working with a variety of age groups. This person shall be seen as both a Director and an Educator.

Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of a B.A. degree in Christian Education, Education, or an education related field.

Experience: Two years in Christian Education working in a church setting.

Knowledge: United Methodist structure, programs, curriculum, and theology; Safe Sanctuary procedures including CPR and first aid (CPR/First Aid training provided by the church).

Primary Function:
Promote and develop opportunities for adult spiritual formation throughout the congregation of the Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church seeking to fulfill the mission statement of the church.

Responsibilities:

1. The Director of Adult Ministry shall have the primary responsibility for over seeing, resourcing, directing, guiding, implementing, and evaluating the Adult Ministry (age 25+) and programming for the Church. These programs include but are not limited to:
a. Sunday School
b. Small Groups
c. Singles Ministry
d. Divorce Ministry
e. Senior Adult Ministry
g. Other special programs

2. Set goals and objectives for Adult Ministry in accordance with the WCUMC mission statement and strategic objectives.

3. Create an Adult Ministry Team as well as oversee and meet with the Adult Ministry teams

4. Assist the staff team in the development of an overall education goal or plan.

5. Develop and implement new ministries with adults.

6. Provide Leadership Development.
a. Recruit and train teachers, leaders, and volunteers for the Adult Ministry of the Church.
b. Recruitment shall be conducted in conjunction with the Pastor and other program staff.

7. Serve as a resource person for teachers and leaders.
a. Provide resources for curriculum and train teachers and leaders in the use of curriculum.
b. Assist in the maintenance of an adequate resource and supply room, insuring that supplies
are readily available and adequate.

8. Review, purchase, and advise on the selection of curriculum for small groups, studies, and other adult ministry programs.

9. Provide support and resources for UM Women and UM Men when requested.

10. Oversee the promotion of adult ministries and programs.
a. Be an active enthusiast for Sunday School and other educational ministries with posters, bulletin boards, special events, publicity, etc.
b. Assist with Sunday School Promotion Sunday(s).

11. Oversee Education Attendance for Adult Ministries.
Assist teachers in keeping attendance records and contact with absentees.

12. Develop and oversee budgets for Adult Ministry

13. Attend staff, leadership, and Administrative Board meetings as required.

14. Recognize that this job description is not all inclusive and as the programming and ministry of the church grows and evolves, the job descriptions of our staff team will evolve and change as well.

Piano Accompanist and Assistant Organist

This 1800+ member church is looking for a musician willing to share their talents with an expanding music program, as part of a warm and dynamic ministry team. There is potential for growth in this position as the church and program continue a rapid growth. An environment of trust, flexibility, cohesiveness, and open communication must be maintained between the Pianist/Accompanist and the Director of Music for the benefit of the church and to honor and glorify God.

DUTIES:
* Accompany choir anthems during the Traditional Sunday worship services
* Accompany rehearsals for Chancel Choir, Service Choir and Joyful Notes Choir
* Accompany Joyful Notes (Sr. Adult Choir) on their monthly outings or services.
* Accompany occasional handbell rehearsals
* Play instrumental solos for preludes or offertories, etc.
* Accompany service hymns w/ organist
* Accompany special soloists and groups as needed.
* Be available upon request from the Director of Music for special services or events.
* Substitute for the Director of Music when needed playing either the organ or piano for church services, funerals, weddings, etc. (Weddings have additional fee)
* Accompany the annual Chancel Choir Retreat – in late Sept or early October
* Accompany annual Advent Concert – 1st Sunday of Advent 5:30 – 7:30 PM
* Accompany the extra rehearsals for 2 cantatas and dress rehearsals
* Play for the Ash Wednesday Service
* Play for either Maundy Thursday or Good Friday Service: 6:30PM – 8:30 PM
* Assist with extended Wednesday rehearsals with soloists/ensembles.
* Assist with additional choirs as determined by the Director of Music


SALARY RANGE (depending on experience and ability): $18,000 - $22,000


Professional and Administrative Issues

1. The Pianist/Accompanist will have a six month probationary period in order to review job performance for the purpose of continued employment. The Staff-Parish Relations Committee will make this determination.

2. Salary will be set each year by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and approved by the Administrative Board.

3. After six months of employment, one week of vacation with pay will be provided. Two weeks will be provided annually thereafter. This rate is based on the weekly compensation for the position. A week is defined as a Monday – Sunday.

4. Projected absences should be coordinated with the Minister of Music.
