We are a community of Christians called by God to be the Body of Christ
in the world: to worship God, to proclaim the Gospel, and to minister
to the needs of those in our community and in the world.

The Outreach Team consists of people who are committed to
serving Jesus Christ by serving His people, most specifically
the least, the last, and the lost. We have been very
intentional about working to reach out into the community and
beyond and to involve as many in the congregation who are ready
to give of their time and talents. Please join us in our
efforts to be servants and disciples for Christ.
Major projects include monthly mission emphasis, work with
Winnie Hooper Center and Barium Springs, School Supply and
Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Great Week of Service, and
Angel Tree. Look for details of our first International Mission
Trip.
Sponsor A Child Through Compassion
When you sponsor a child, you are linked with one particular child who will know your name, write to you, and treasure the thought that you care. He or she will pray for you often and write to you.
Here at Williamsons Chapel we have the unique opportunity to sponsor children through Compassion at the Rose Merry Child Development Center. This center is connected to our sister church Christ Mission in India.
Your tax-deductible contribution of just $38 a month allows the staff at Compassion and our sister church to provide your sponsored child with:
* Food and clean water
* Medical care
* Educational opportunities and materials
* Important life-skills training
* Cultural programs
* Most important of all, your sponsored child will hear about Jesus Christ and be encouraged to develop a lifelong relationship with God.

INDIA 2011
Williamsons Chapel will return to our sister church in India, Christ Mission Dalangata, in January 2011.
* March 6-14 2011
* The following schedule is tentative and based on a Friday to Friday trip. Specific days at locations will vary based on trip dates:
- Arrive in Calcutta Sunday - attend worship at the sister church and rest
- Monday: work at church all day
- Tuesday: work at church all day
- Wednesday: work at church all day
- Thursday: reentry day (shopping and visit Mother Theresa’s site
- Friday: fly home
* Rough cost estimate of trip is $2500.00
* $300 deposit due by July 15, 2010
* Frequently asked questions:
* What does the cost include?
Cost of the trip includes airfare, hotel, food, bottled water, transportation while in India, and services of Compassion guides and staff.
* How is our safety ensured?
All trip arrangements are made through Compassion International. They make regular international trips and our arrangements will follow their guidelines for standards and safety. We will also have a US Compassion staff person with us at all times and an Indian staff member while there.
* How was the length of the trip determined?
This is an introductory trip with our sister church. This visit will set the tone for an ongoing relationship and future visits. Due to extreme cultural differences, we do not wish to overwhelm the church with an extended stay. A weeklong trip also helps to keep cost down and makes it easier for people to get off of work.
* How will we be serving as a mission’s team?
There will be several ways to serve on this trip. Many of which will be determined by the gifts and flexibility of those who go. We will be providing children’s programming activities to those who attend the center and church and helping with basic needs and upkeep around the area.
* Will we visit Mother Theresa’s site
We plan to visit one of several programs that mother Theresa set up in Calcutta. However, flexibility is key and it is important to remember that this is not the reason we are going to India. Our mission is to further the relationship with our sister church. Visiting Mother Theresa’s centers is not guaranteed.
* What will I need to travel to India?
You will need a passport and Indian visa. Typically Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Polio, MMR, and Tetanus are necessary. Malaria medication is also recommended.
* What is Compassion’s roll in this partnership?
Our church was asked by Compassion to be part of this international church partnership. They continue to be an important partner in this relationship. They are providing us with services for trip planning, staffing, interpreting, mission planning, and can act as a liaison between the two churches.
* Will fundraising activities be available to help with the cost?
Yes, upcoming fundraising activities are planned to help offset the cost of the trip.

Williamson’s Chapel and Habitat for Humanity
The United Methodist Men at Williamson’s Chapel welcome all people to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those who lack adequate housing through Habitat for Humanity. Habitat homeowners purchase their houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgages while contributing hundreds of hours of sweat-equity labor, working on their house and the houses of others. Mortgage payments are placed in a revolving Fund for Humanity to finance the construction of even more houses. Volunteers and donors have made it possible for 369 people, including 224 children, to live in Habitat homes in Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville; 2100 people to live in Habitat Homes internationally. 2,567 people no longer live in sub-standard housing conditions due to Our Towns Habitat for Humanity’s efforts. (Statistics updated July 2005.) Our Towns Habitat for Humanity celebrated the dedication of the 100th Habitat home to be built locally since 1988. Williamson's Chapel will start building in October and participate on the 1st and 3rd Saturday's of each month.

How Do I Get Involved?
We believe "Hands On Missions" are essential to carrying out the Great Commission of Christ. Throughout the year, you will see and hear of various ways to be active in mission involvement.
Various members of the church volunteered at the Winnie Hooper Center in Mooresville and Barium Springs Home for Children in Troutman by hosting an Easter Party. Others volunteer on a regular basis in building homes for Habitat for Humanity and the Mooresville Soup Kitchen.
Our youth collaborate their efforts in providing Easter Baskets for children who are less fortunate and our shut ins. They also travel yearly on a mission trip to help others in need with construction, renovations of homes, etc.
Each Christ Connection Spiritual Formation Group works on a hands-on mission project as well. One group has adopted a shut-in family, another has adopted a local family in need and provides clothes, food, etc. for them.
Watch the weekly bulletin for hands on mission opportunities. |
