Comments and/or Questions

Williamsons Chapel will return to our sister church in India, Christ Mission Dalangata, in January 2011. * March 6-14 2011 * The following schedule is tentative and based on a Friday to Friday trip. Specific days at locations will vary based on trip dates: - Arrive in Calcutta Sunday - attend worship at the sister church and rest - Monday: work at church all day - Tuesday: work at church all day - Wednesday: work at church all day - Thursday: reentry day (shopping and visit Mother Theresa’s site - Friday: fly home * Rough cost estimate of trip is $2500.00 * $300 deposit due by July 15, 2010 * Frequently asked questions: * What does the cost include? Cost of the trip includes airfare, hotel, food, bottled water, transportation while in India, and services of Compassion guides and staff. * How is our safety ensured? All trip arrangements are made through Compassion International. They make regular international trips and our arrangements will follow their guidelines for standards and safety. We will also have a US Compassion staff person with us at all times and an Indian staff member while there. * How was the length of the trip determined? This is an introductory trip with our sister church. This visit will set the tone for an ongoing relationship and future visits. Due to extreme cultural differences, we do not wish to overwhelm the church with an extended stay. A weeklong trip also helps to keep cost down and makes it easier for people to get off of work. * How will we be serving as a mission’s team? There will be several ways to serve on this trip. Many of which will be determined by the gifts and flexibility of those who go. We will be providing children’s programming activities to those who attend the center and church and helping with basic needs and upkeep around the area. * Will we visit Mother Theresa’s site We plan to visit one of several programs that mother Theresa set up in Calcutta. However, flexibility is key and it is important to remember that this is not the reason we are going to India. Our mission is to further the relationship with our sister church. Visiting Mother Theresa’s centers is not guaranteed. * What will I need to travel to India? You will need a passport and Indian visa. Typically Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Polio, MMR, and Tetanus are necessary. Malaria medication is also recommended. * What is Compassion’s roll in this partnership? Our church was asked by Compassion to be part of this international church partnership. They continue to be an important partner in this relationship. They are providing us with services for trip planning, staffing, interpreting, mission planning, and can act as a liaison between the two churches. * Will fundraising activities be available to help with the cost? Yes, upcoming fundraising activities are planned to help offset the cost of the trip.
