Crossroad Bookstore and Library

The bookstore has great Easter Gifts. Plan to add a Christian gift to your Easter Basket this year! We have lots of Childrens books, jewelry, Bibles, devotionals, CDs, videos etc. Stop in on Sunday morning between services or anytime on Wednesdays.

Bookstore Feature of the Month:
Rwandan Baskets for missions are also for sale in the bookstore. These are absolutely beautiful and each one comes with a story. All the monies go to the most impoverished women in Rwanda who survived the Rwandan Genocide. The Book, Left To Tell, by Immaculee Illibagize, goes along with the baskets. If you want to be totally inspired in your prayer life read this book. A book and a basket would be a gift that would encourage a friend in the power of the living God to be with you through the most difficult of times. This is an amazing story!

Making Big Church Small!

Consider visiting a Home Dinner Party!

Ever wonder what it would feel like to walk into church and see 8 to 10 of your closest friends? To talk to people who celebrate special events with you, eat and laugh together, know your name and everyone in your family, pray for you, ask about things that youre doing, bring you a meal when you have a new baby, play a round of golf, study a faith topic with you, visit you in the hospital, and really care about your life?

Thats really the description of what a church family can and should be like. We want you to have just that group. So, were hosting Dinner parties. These parties will be a chance for you to meet a small group of people in a similar stage of life as you. You can see how it goes. If you enjoy the evening, we will help you plan another get together. If not, its ok. Our hope is that eventually you will find a group of people that you feel comfortable with and you would like to meet with two times a month in a home for fun, Christian growth, and celebration together.

Let us know if youd like to come to a dinner party! We have five planned right now. One is for young couples, no kids; one for couples with teenagers, one for couples with kids that need childcare, one for singles, and one for empty-nesters. Of course if you have another idea let us know.

Monthly Mission Offering for March: Church Without Walls

For seven years we have been a part of the Great Week of Service. Over the past seven years our projects have grown TOO NUMEROUS to be contained within one week. NOW they encompass a month... so we are calling this the Church Without Walls. It encompasses our world missions, the environmental mission, and our local missions and there will be projects throughout the month that benefit our local non-profit agencies. This is one of our major opportunities as a church to leave a thumbprint in our society! All monies collected through the month of March will go to support ALL of the projects throughout this time period.

Some examples:
Taking blankets to the chemo patients at LNR, CMC, Presbyterian
Thank you gifts to all school employees, workers at local nursing homes (Summit, Brian Center, Church Hill, Genesis)
Thank you gifts to public safety personnel

A NEW WELCOME CENTER

In January over 150 of your church leaders met and discussed in small groups what it would mean to carry out "radical hospitality" in our church. The discussions were exciting and energizing. People were thinking what their group can do to make our church even more welcoming and easy to navigate.

Several ideas were born. One was the need for two Welcome Centers; one in the Narthex and one at the entrance to the Fellowship Hall. This allows visitors to ask questions to a "live person" about anything going on in the church, directions to classes or fellowship time, events coming up, how to get children registered for the WOW program etc. You may have noticed we have opened the first Welcome Center in the Narthex. Already, we have had 15-20 people stop by the welcome center with questions between services each weekend. Some questions have been simply, How do I get to the God Cave with my 7th grader? Or, where is the Fellowship Hall?, Can you help me decide which class I should take on Wednesday night?, and How can I join the Choir?

One special story is a young mother visited church and brought a thank you note for the group of WCUMC women who brought her brand new baby clothes and diapers last month when she had her baby. So moved by their generosity and so grateful for the help, she visited worship. At the welcome center she was able to express her appreciation and give her thank you note. She was invited to a womens small group to get connected! That is exciting!

There will continue to be more changes to help us with Hospitality and Communication. We have added welcome banners on the light poles. We now have monitors hung on the walls in key locations that have information about upcoming classes and events. The IT committee worked hard on making this possible.

We need many more of you to be speed bumps, greeters, and welcome center volunteers. Let the office know if you are interested. A smiling, welcoming face is the most important qualification. For all of you who every time you are here, smile and shake hands with people you do not even know, keep it up! You are doing a great job to make your church a place of radical hospitality.

PLEASE COME AND JOIN US FOR FELLOWSHIP TIME

You are invited to join us for a few minutes before or after your service to say hello to your church friends and to meet new friends of the church. Coffee, juice, bagels and pastries are provided in the Fellowship Hall on Sundays from 8:15 AM until 11:00 AM. We look forward to seeing you.

SAY "HELLO" TO SOMEONE YOU DO NOT KNOW

The Witness Team asks that you reach out each Sunday and say hello to at least one person you do not know at the close of the service. Spend a few minutes and get to know that person. As we have grown and continue to grow, this will help us to know each other better and to greet visitors.

The First 10 Minutes

The first 10 minutes anyone steps on the property of Williamsons Chapel UMC for the very first time are critical... it is in those first 10 minutes they will decide if they want to visit again. As we prepare for Easter, the day that marks who we are as followers of Christ, we want to convey the excitement of Easter to all who step onto our property. From the time they drive up, walk through the parking lot, visit the Welcome Center, enter the doors of the chapel or sanctuary it is critical that we convey a spirit of radical hospitality.

We are hosting a training for greeters and speed bumps on March 18 at 7:00 pm in Room B201. ANYONE who has volunteered for this ministry, wants to volunteer for this ministry, or thinks the ministry is critically important - we invite you to attend this time of brainstorming, training, and fellowship on March 18. This is for BOTH the Brawley Campus and the West Campus.

Questions? Email andreasmith@williamsonschapel.org
Hope to see you on the 18th of March!
